Keshi is an old Japanese term
applied to beautiful unique solid irregular forms of nacre that are
found side by side with a pearl during harvest, however Keshi can
sometimes be found alone. The oyster can produce nacre anywhere
when poked or tickled, and frequently Keshi pearls are found lying
within the folds of the oysters when opened. Keshi is sold by
weight.
